(for parents of kids ages 9-13)

This workshop arms parents with the information and tools they need to create a home environment with strong (but reasonable) screentime limits and an emphasis on self-care, ethical behavior & strong connection to life offline.

Topics include:

  • How to know if your child is ready for a phone
  • Talking to kids about inappropriate online content
  • YouTube, Social Media and Gaming safety for kids
  • Creating screen-free zones at home
  • Becoming your child’s screen time ally and mentor
  • Setting strong screnntime limits and priorities based on your family values

Girls, Media And Self-Esteem

(for parents of girls ages 9-16)

One of the biggest concerns for parents is how media affects girls' mental health. Unfortunately, research shows that girls are particularly vulnerable to the negative effects of social media as well as the constant influx of unrealistic and unhealthy female images in popular culture.

Topics include:

  • Girls, body image and social media
  • FOMO and the need for approval

Supporting, Protecting and Mentoring Your Teen in the Digital Age

(for parents of kids ages 13-17)

Designed to give parents of teens a clear understanding of the ways in which digital technologies interact with the developing teenage brain.

Topics include:

  • Distraction and time management
  • Making safe choices in online relationships
  • Supporting your child’s mental health
  • Teaching critical thinking skills
  • Creating an intentional digital footprint
  •  
     

    How it Works


     
    1. Gather a group of at least 8 interested parents and select a Workshop Topic.

    2. Reach out to Julia via email to discuss date/time for workshop.

    3. Once a date and time have been decided you’ll become your group’s Parent Lead and Julia’s liaison. You’ll immediately receive a Welcome Email for your group with meeting and payment information.

    4. Your group will meet via Zoom unless local to the Los Angeles area.

    5. Workshops are 1.5-2 hours long. The format includes a presentation plus plenty of time for Q & A and discussion
